6 The Buccaneers Season Two

Apple TV+'s adaptation of Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel was as big a wave-maker as Bridgerton, so its second season has been eagerly awaited. The Buccaneers focuses on five young female characters with distinct personalities, who are, in a nutshell, each looking for a husband, and they pursue their own love stories in their own ways.

Season one ended on a triumphant note but, as season two tells, that triumphant spirit was created so it could be smashed to pieces by a big, fat reality check. As these American women hop the pond to partake in London’s high society, season two brings forth new love and new players as old dangers resurface to further complicate their lives.

If you’re a fan of historical dramas and haven’t watched this show but are curious, I urge you to check it out.

5 Foundation Season Three

Foundation is one of Apple TV+’s most aesthetically pleasing series, and that’s saying a lot, given that most of their content is visually stunning.

There was only one problem for me, though: when I sat down to watch this series, all I heard was, “Math, math, math, and math”—the one subject that does not translate well with me and is always a hard pass. Nevertheless, Foundation is obviously so much more than its (no pun intended) foundation established, and now I can’t wait for its return.

Season three of the hit sci-fi series is set 152 years after season two and revolves around an extremely fragile peace between the Foundation and the Empire. Of course, there’s a new threat this season in the form of an antagonistic warlord known as “The Mule”, who uses mind control and military force to get what he wants.

Where the Foundation has expanded, the Cleonic Empire has weakened; thus, the road is paved for a “deadly game of intergalactic chess,” per Apple TV+. Expect new characters, new conflicts, and shifting power dynamics amidst a mesmerizing backdrop of ethereal beauty.

4 Acapulco Season Four

Returning for its fourth and final season, Acapulco will revolve heavily around Máximo’s (Eugenio Derbez) desire to restore Las Colinas to its former glory, as he works tirelessly to make it to the grand re-opening. That won’t be all he’s up to, though.

Máximo will also be exploring his past relationship with Julia (Camila Perez) as well as the impact of a key event that shaped his life. In 1986, when a competitor claims the number one spot in the annual ranking of Acapulco’s Best Hotels, the pool-boy-turned-key-resort-figure will do whatever it takes to get back on top and secure his beloved resort’s future.

Expect a reconnection with Hector (Rafael Cebrián) and a deep dive into the literal and metaphorical renovation process, which promises to leave Máximo with some very dirty hands after a collision between his past and present selves.

3 Platonic Season Two

If you haven’t checked out this Seth Rogen/Rose Byrne hit comedy yet, you should hop on that this summer before its new season arrives in August.

Platonic follows the lives of estranged best friends Sylvia (Rose Byrne) and Will (Seth Rogen), who reconnect after a years-long rift. As mid-lifers, she’s a wife and stay-at-home mom of three, and he is newly divorced. As their platonic relationship rebuilds and strengthens, it becomes more consuming and winds up destabilizing their lives, sometimes in the best ways, other times, not so much.

Season two will continue to explore Will and Sylvia’s friendship as they meander through new midlife challenges, which include work, weddings, and partners in crises. These two aren’t destructive together. They’re hilariously constructive, and that’s what makes this series work.

Expect to see more of that authentic comedy full of chemistry that hooked us in the first place. You’ll love seeing this unique friendship continuing to re-emerge, re-develop, and unfold in a real-life, messy fashion.

2 The Morning Show Season Four

Finally, the long-awaited hit drama series The Morning Show returns this summer with an all-new, highly anticipated season. This Jennifer Aniston-Billy Crudup favorite examines and exposes the characters and culture behind a network-broadcast morning news program, and that's just part of what makes it one of the best Apple TV+ shows.

After the UBA network struggled to draw in and maintain viewers for its subscription service in season three, we saw them contemplate a takeover by technology titan Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), only for a monkey wrench to come flying in out of left field.

The Morning Show season four is set almost two years later. With the UBA-UBN merger complete, the newsroom finds itself grappling with newfound responsibility, hidden motives, and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America.

It will pose the questions, in a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories, and corporate cover-ups, who can you trust, and how can you know what’s actually real? It's the world we live in today, so season four of TMS will be of significant timely relevance.

Expect to explore the consequences of all the actions taken in season three. What we really want to know, though, is whether Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) will indeed go separate ways, and, if so, how will that factor into their core dynamic as co-hosts and friends?

1 Slow Horses Season Five

Based on the Slough House novel series by Mick Herron, this English spy thriller follows a team of British intelligence agents who’ve been exiled to serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known as Slough House, thanks to career-ending mistakes.

Slow Horses season five will adapt the fifth book in the series, London Rules. As the team investigates a series of bizarre events connected to Roddy Ho’s (Christopher Chung) new girlfriend, political intrigue involving a prominent mayoral candidate will surface.

Expect a deep dive into the world of political machinations and potential terror attacks while observing and exploring the personal struggles of the Slough House team, all while adhering to the “London Rules” of espionage. And expect everything we love about Jackson Lamb (Oldman) to return in humorous abundance.
