For the hobbyist and the home user Ryobi tools are a worthwhile investment. Most non-professionals do not need the extensive features of the considerably higher priced brands. I have used DeWalt and Milwaukee professional versions professionally, they are fantastic tools and are very impressive. So is their price! I replaced one defective battery for my Ryobi tools (can't tell you quite how old the batteries are but well over 3 years) with a pair of 4 Ah Ryobi batteries and I am still pleased with the fact that two batteries cost me about one half of what a single Milwaukee battery would cost. I don't use battery operated saws unless I cannot easily gain access to an outlet, $500+ for Milwaukee saw and a battery just isn't justifiable unless you are making money with the tools everyday. And, by the way, read the warranty on Roybi tools, they are not intended for professional use!
